Sun Quan father Sun Jian

Sun Jian (157-193 AD), also known as Wentai, was born in Fushun, Wujun (now Fuyang, Zhejiang). He was the father of Sun Quan, the ruler of the Wu Kingdom who later dominated Jiangnan during the period of the Three Kingdoms of Wei, Shu, and Wu. Sun Jian was a county official when he was young, with a bold and aggressive nature, and was known for his righteousness and martial arts. Organized landlord armed forces and participated in the suppression of the Xusheng Uprising, Huangjin Uprising, and Quxing Uprising. During the separatist struggle, Sun Jian gradually gained a larger military force, laying a solid foundation for Sun Quan‘s dominance in Jiangdong. In 193 AD, he was shot dead at the age of 36 during a battle with Liu Biao’s army in Xianshan (now Fannan, Hubei). The story of Sun Jian fighting pirates alone when he was young is recorded in the “Records of the Three Kingdoms” and widely circulated. Sun Jian is therefore regarded as a lone hero by people.

Sun Jian has loved martial arts since childhood, playing with guns and sticks, wielding knives and swords, and has developed a good body of kung fu skills. Under the education of his family, he successively studied multiple military books such as “The Art of War” by Sun Tzu, as well as a large number of historical books and classics. Although the person is not big, they have a lot of goods in their belly. At the age of 16, Sun Jian accompanied his father on a boat to visit friends. The ship suddenly stopped sailing when it reached Tangjiang Port. Sun Jian felt puzzled and went out of the cabin to inquire, only to find out that the pirates were fighting on the shore after stealing the ship, causing pedestrians to dare not pass by. Upon hearing this, Sun Jian was infuriated and shouted loudly, “You’re such a coward! How dare you do such a thing in broad daylight! I’ll go fight these bastards!” With that, he took off his long shirt and pulled out his big knife, urging the boatman to quickly dock the ship. Sun Jian’s father was afraid of accidents and did not allow him to go ashore. But seeing Sun Jian’s furious expression, he knew he couldn’t stop it, so he asked the pirates in detail about their situation.

Originally, the leader of the pirates was named Hu Yu, who was naturally easy-going and lazy. He gathered local ruffians and became a robber in the sea. They commit crimes everywhere, rob merchants and tourists, harass people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and have a notorious reputation. People deeply abhor them. This time, he led a group of people to intercept a merchant ship in the evening and robbed the entire ship of valuable silk, gold, silver, and jewelry. However, the pirates fought against each other for the unequal distribution of spoils, causing an unbreakable conflict. The travelers were very afraid and had to hide far away, no one dared to touch Hu Yu and his group. Sun Jian’s father knew that there were a total of ten or twenty pirates, and also knew Hu Yu’s ruthless nature in killing people, so he sent several strong boatmen to follow Sun Jian ashore together.

The onlookers saw a group of warriors emerge, but they didn’t know who they were, so they immediately dispersed and made way for Sun Jian and his group. After standing firm, Sun Jian shouted loudly, “Bold rebel, how dare you be so rampant? Surrender to me quickly, or else I won’t be polite!” The thieves were startled when they heard someone shouting and instinctively put down their treasures, drew their swords, and prepared to fight. Hu Yu looked closely and saw a warrior approaching. He shouted loudly, “What kind of person are you? Dare to come and die!” Several thieves followed suit and shouted, “Come and die!” Faced with the unruly thieves, Sun Jian remained calm. He waved his arms like commanding a large army and ordered loudly, “You 20 will encircle from the right side.” You 30 will quickly turn around from the left side and cut off their retreat! Fleet navy, quickly occupy the thief ship, don’t let the rebels escape! The rest of the people will follow my commander and attack, kill me! “The boatmen and some onlookers also shouted,” Kill! Kill! Kill

At this moment, it was dusk and the water was misty. The thieves couldn’t see the truth and thought that the soldiers had really arrived, so they abandoned their belongings and fled for their lives in panic. Hu Yu was also puzzled. When she saw everyone running away, she quickly ran away herself. It was important to save her life. There were only two guys who valued money and possessions more than life, and wanted to pick up more possessions. They fell behind and were caught up by Sun Jian, who raised their swords to attack. However, they quickly lost their defense. Sun Jian raised his knife and chopped it down, but the tip of the knife fell. One thief lost his life before he could react, while the other thief fled without a trace. Sun Jian shouted loudly from behind, ‘Go back and tell Hu Yu the rebel. If you dare to do anything wrong again, I will definitely capture and punish all of you alive. I will not spare you lightly!’ Seeing that the thieves had fled, Sun Jian carried the thief’s head and walked towards his own boat. The onlookers and those on the boat were amazed by this heart stopping and inspiring scene, and couldn’t stop expressing their admiration for this resourceful young man who breathed a sigh of relief for them. Besides, the thief leader Hu Yu, after this false alarm, dared not come back to the Qiantang River area to do evil. The banditry in the Qiantang River area has also decreased significantly.
The common people are grateful to Sun Jian, who has become a well-known hero.
